The War Is Over...

Time to bring the boys back home and tally up the score. (we will allow a few days for straggling targets in the mail to make it to the base camps for scoring)

We have to wait a few days for the mail, just in case there are some targets in route.

However, don't throw away those forum war bonds just yet.

EVERYBODY who went shootin', had fun, and played the game! :hatsoff:

While the scores have yet to be announced, The War Is Over! We fought hard and shot well... mostly...

Tho some killing was done, it was done with honor.
"They died hard, those savage men - like wounded wolves at bay. They were filthy, and they were lousy, and they stunk. And I loved them."(MacArthur)

"Old soldiers never die; they just fade away. And like the old soldier in that ballad, I now close my military career and just fade away, an old soldier who tried to do his duty as God gave him the sight to see that duty." (MacArthur again)

Thanks to everyone who participated. It was fun being the "General" for a while. :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :hatsoff:

It really was a kick reading some of the good-natured jibes being tossed about during the recent "hostilities". Thanks guys for a lot of laughs!

Something is bothering me though, and perhaps y'all can help me figure this all out. The good ol' U.S. of A. team had 20 shooters and managed a total of 16 "kills", for an average of 0.8 "kills" per shooter. The "Also Ran" team consisted of only 9 shooters yet managed to get 9 "kills", an average 1.0 per shooter. Seems to me all them furriners is better shots than us guys on a per-shooter basis.

Do we need more practice?

I shall now don my Nomex fire-resistant suit, retreat to my underground bunker in an undisclosed location, and await the inevitable and well-deserved loads of cannister and grapeshot cast haphazardly in my direction.
