Ok bud ...if I get a visitor I will . Oh gave the standard Indian whoop when I got it to fire . Should all be good now ! LOLNice to see you finally got her done, she’s definitely a looker.one day maybe you could make short video of the builder shooting her.
Hi bud ....let's see now ....I wanted this one to be done fast but ...it didn't , LOL . I just my traditional heat with torch and hang it by wire . 3 days of that , applying a coat of Caseys browning each day then I sat it out in the sun . Sprayed it down with WD 40 and let it sit in sun two days . It looked bad ... I steel wooled it each day and applied morecWD but no good ....so I started pouring running alcohol on it .... Then I applied vHomer Danglers browning solution on it two days and left it out side ... It was two or three days of that and I steel wooled it , very fine wool , and it looked pretty darn good , I was surprised ! So I let it dit in the sun for two days applying oil , WD , darn near every time I walked by it . The Browning looked deep and even the length of the barrel by then . I sure didn't learn any short cuts that go round !! LOLRob how long did it take to brown the barrel? I seem to remember you saying the plum brown is a slow process over several days?
Thanks bud . Im sure yours will . i sure love these damn ole trade gunsI hope mine turns out half as good as that, beautiful gun!
Do you degrease it after the WD before you do the next coat the next day?Hi bud ....let's see now ....I wanted this one to be done fast but ...it didn't , LOL . I only degreased it the one time .... I had thought I could get away with 3 days of browning but it wasnt working ....thats when I decreased it , the only time , right before I started putting on the homer dangler browning solution on.it... There's no reason to degrease them usually . I wire wheel them clean. Dont touch with your fingers , then start the Browning .... Keep checking it every day , and applying more solution until it looks good , even and not splotchy ....In the winter usually take 10-15 days for me , summer , bit less ..Do you degrease it after the WD before you do the next coat the next day?
