Any chance we'll see powder from Goex in 2023 ?

Pretty cr4ppy attitude. The government paid them to set that all up I’m and is their main business. Did you donate money to help them get going again? Of course not.

Their mail customer is the government, not a small niche hobby.
Did you donate ? If not who cares…..Right

Why would I do that? I’m not the one railing at them. Estes didn’t have to buy a reopen am exploded plant. Is it their fault that your president is sending all that to his Ukrainian masters?

I have enough powder to let me until it starts up. And I’m not cursing them for doing what their business needs to do. Curse your president.

Of course I sent them money , I bought their product , duh . Pretty crappy attitude ? Not wanting to support someone that drops their supporting customers like an old hat , promises a product but nothing yet and I want to support a small American company that strives to help American black powder shooters ? Yeah , I sound like a monster . The government supports them then they dont need any of my money .

I don't understand all the Goex hate over government contracts.

Goex went out of business. The fire was the final nail in the coffin.

Estes thinks that with government contracts, the business was worth buying and investing in to get it up and running again.

The US shooting sports consumers are not sufficient business to keep the lights on at a US powder manufacturer. Without government contracts for military use, there's no US powder maker. It's as simple as that. With skilled American labor costs what they are, and the black powder shooter market being the niche it is, you aren't going to have an American powder maker without something to sweeten the pot - government contracts.

I called the first number . Nice lady says the number to call to find their distributors is 814- 342- 7320 , but they are all off for the holiday now , LOL ... I'll call back Tuesday ... :)

I fully understand Goex filling their government contracts but wish they would at the same time dedicate a part of their production to us ML shooters to keep some limited supply available until they can do both,

that 1800 lbs will be burned up in a weekend then another 10 year wait for more. re-enactors should scale down their shoots or start making their own powder
Everyone complains or praises their preferred Powder; guys at home making their own, while laudable, the variation in quality of ingredients, manufacture, etc., etc., result in powder quality all over the spectrum. Real, professionally made powder will once again be available, and it's negative to state that one lot will be gone in three days only to have a ten-year wait. Cheer up!

I think that the product the government buys and what we shoot might be a wholly different thing that doesn't lend itself to co production 🤔

On other matters not related to you @BillyC .

I truly don't get all the hating on goex.

Let's sort of re-cap. hodgedon has an explosion/fire they, probably wisely, decide to get out of the BP business (selling subs probably far exceeds the profits to be made in BP). Estes, whose requirements for BP are probably miniscule even compared to we shooters, makes a decision to buy what's left of the goex plant and return it to production. They get a considerable advance of cash from DOD to get off the ground so as to keep the production of what they need on US soil. They certainly struggle to get up and running, obviously unforseen setbacks are encountered and they don't meet our expectations not to mention their own! Production is prioritized to their biggest customer, the military usage.

Does anybody really think they slow walked their startup? Do they really deserve our wrath because we are frustrated like hungry little babies?

None of this is personal! It's just the flow of business. Estes made efforts to come to this forum and advise us on what to expect. If they didn't meet their own expectations is surely hasn't been for not giving it their all!

Personally even when Goex made powder it was not as good as Swiss nor Schuetzen. So i no longer bought their product. So Whatever they want to make for who-ever n when is fine with me. I ain't about to pay them $32-$36 a lb for it.

I've been shooting Scheutzen for the past ten or twelve years. I didn't switch for any other reason than Scheutzen was a supporter of local activities. But I've already pre ordered 5# of Goex so I'll decide about it then.

Where does 32 to 36 a pound come from? 🤔

Didn't research it but when I typed "Estes Energetics," this came up:
"Thrust You Can Trust- Estes Energetics is advancing state-of-the-art technology in propulsion systems"
I'll wager our Goex parent has been making a lot bigger things than model rocket engines. But I'm also thinking when we do get gunpowder, it will be dandy.

I'm betting the same way.
