  • Appreciate what you shared. Mind if I ask who the Warden was in Southern Iowa. You are right in when the ICC became the DNR it made our job harder and more was piled on us to do, kept us from doing what we were hired to really do. Also, as in any profession as you mentioned there are a few that give the job a bad name. Again thanks for what you posted, have a great day.

Actually, I was in NE Iowa, Butler County. The warden was Gaylen Heinkel (not sure if I got the spelling right...36+ years ago, lol). He was a great guy. He lived in Hampton and worked Franklin and Butler Counties.

The ICC/DNR thing made a tough job way too much tougher.

    Thanks for the note 😊.

Remember Galen, he certainly was a great fellow and Warden. Remember he did not get to enjoy a very long retirement, believe it was cancer he died of. Thanks for the reminder of a great Warden.

Yes, Galen died much too soon. I believe you are right that it was cancer. If you are in Marshalltown, you aren't far from my home area. We have a home in Clarksville, but we are hunkering down at our acreage near Bellevue, Iowa, until this virus thing ends. We have two of our grandsons with us, so they can get outside without worrying about exposure.
