It did go pretty fast. The shorties are bit easier. She's in shootin order right now so I'm excited to shoot er . Gonna do that tomorrow . Wish I could think of something goofey to shoot for ya , LOL ! Let's see 150 in lock , 18 in side plate , 45 in barrel , bolts ...Cool ! I got less than $240 in this sucker ! Bad thing is I think its gonna look really bad , oh well , its mine ... Those cracks in the stock are extensive and I think they are gonna stick out like a sore thumb after I fill them in ... And that buttstock !!! That wood is harder than Wang leather !!! I can't hardly work it !! Burl !! Its a b%-%#@ !! Oh well , it'll be ugly but ....itll shoot ! :). I do need to put it down for awhile though and get back on the Fusil de Chasse ... but I am gonna shoot it first ... I have a gun again ! YEAH !!!! :D

Looking forward to watching you shoot er Rob.

Cut off excess , grind , file fit and ...finished ....well , mostly .....
I can see your rasp marks. You have rasps that work. It’s been a struggle for me to find rasps that can take down the maple. They have some pricey rasps online but they’re second or third cut to fine. Any recommendations on a source for course rasps? Where are all the real rasps sold? Craft Works and Lee High Valley have a 12 inch in a number 6 cut why not any other. I got a sureform planner but I have to put all my weight on it to cut. Probably fine on pine but not hardwood like maple. I found a crescent nicholson yesterday but the reviews are not the greatest. They used to make good files . I hate buying stuff and then return it because it doesn’t work.

Funny thing ...I got this rasp from my buddy Alan back in the early 90 s. It was so sharp it scared me ...apparently I've worn it it out as now a aldays I've been using the one I bought from the local hardware cause its sharper ! LOL ...you already know more about rasps brands than I do bud , sorry ...wish I could be of help. This thing is the nastiest burl in the world in the butt section ...its a struggle to day the least . take care
