Anybody have any idea on the history of throwing knives? Not just knives that are thrown, I am sure those go back pretty much to the beginning, but an actual knife made specifically for throwing. I'm just curious whether this was a 20th century concept, or if such a thing existed in the 19th century and what they would have looked like.

Dedicated throwers have been in use for at least 1000 years in many cultures around the world. I've seen various designs in the Smithsonian, many multipointed, and in other museums in the US and overseas.
