Cleaned the pot a on Saturday to prep it for tin, didn't sand well enough, it was difficult to reach some places. As of the moment the timing did not work well enough. I cut the bottom of the pot off and shortened it up about 1/4 in and installed a new bottom. Will get that welded in in the next couple days and reattempt tinning. Before removing the bottom the whole pot was submerged in a hot water and vinegar solution then went over all I could with fine steel wool, the pot cleaned up well and should be good to go for round 2

Tinning Copper is tricky. Once cleaned, the surface starts to oxidize quickly and any oxidation will keep the Tin from sticking. Just because you cleaned yesterday in no way guarantees the Tin will stick today or tomorrow...

Years back watched a video of a guy in India tinning pots....The pot never leaves the fire (flames)....I assume this keeps the oxygen at bay.

The pot was heated, fluxed and tinned very quickly without leaving the flames.
