Or maybe I should say boot gun or vest pistol or pocket pistol.... I've been looking to get one for some time now and every place I look they are always out of stock.

Have any of you guys had one like the screw barrel pedersoli? Then there's an interesting one in 31 caliber, but of course that's unavailable everywhere as well.

Tell me about any you may have or have had in the past. Certainly they have to be fun plinkers?

Has anyone seen any in stock anywhere?

Might be best to place an order for one from a dealer who stocks BP guns, or those of a specific manufacturer.

I also had a hard time finding a pocket pistol. Ended up with a Traditions kit in .45 cal. If you are looking for something to just play around with and plink a bit then almost any of the derringers will do. If you are looking for something that will do what everyone who carried one hoped it would do, which is stop an attacker, then consider a .45 or larger. My "testing" with the little thing showed that a load of at least 40g 3f would be needed for lethal penetration. That is a very stout load for such a small arm.
The screw chamber pistols only take a very small charge that produce anemic results. Keep your eyes here as nice derringers show up now and then. good luck.

Has anyone seen the North American arms 22 cap and ball revolver called the companion? And then they have the super companion which just has a longer cylinder to stuff some powder in.

Not exactly a historically accurate reproduction but a fun looking little gun nonetheless. The nipple wrench is actually a simple allen wrench and the inside of the nipple is the wrench flats for the Allen wrench.

The only thing I don't really like is they don't sell a bullet mold. But they do sell the projectiles pretty cheap and it looks like basically just a solid lead 22 bullet with a gas check ring or maybe two but I think it's only one.

Evidently they prefer Remington number 11s because other caps might stick up too high and bind the cylinder.

A gun being fussy about what caps it takes is certainly not appealing in today's market of scarcity

1848 Uberti Colt .31 pocket 4” barrel, 5 shot. My EDC. Ya it really is. Fits completely on jeans pocket. I really hope i never have to use it, but it’s there if I do.
As for availability, I was lucky. Stole it on GB for $240 almost mint condition, slight ring around cylinder, no bidders, i think the no loading lever, most didn’t know what it was. You can buy new for about twice that. Not for sale for 3x what i paid.

I've been wanting a pair of those myself.

Well I'll be darned, I got mine for about $240 on GB, too. Only good deal I've had there yet! 😁

I have one listed for sale, might be willing to dicker on the price.

Good for you! I love mine. I also got my 51 Navy and 58 Rem both .36. Amazing pistols but i swear i would sell both before i would let this 48 .31 go.
I can replace both the biggins. Not sure if i let this go i could replace.

Was the original ad, i told seller it wasnt a 49. He corrected ad. And that whole Wells Fargo thing has since been proven to be a dime novel fiction. There is no historical record of Wells Fargo buying a batch. None.

I had a .44 derringer when I was a teenager. totally useless INMOP. If i had to carry BP I would get a sherrifs model or just carry my 8" 1858 I am solid out to 50yrds with all 3 of my BP pistols. certainly more accurate with them than I am with my glock.

I have this. Bought it from DGW back in 81’ or 82’. It’s a Palmetto Arms Abilene in .41 cal. It was pretty cheaply priced back then.
Pedersoli makes a 44 screw barrel like this for a real up close and personal experience, think it was a saloon gun or a ladies gun not really sure. I know I wouldn't want to be shot with it. Might not kill ya but sure as heck give ya a case of Lead poisoning!

They are built like a tank.

I bought one of these, like yours, called a Liegi Pistol, but packaged in a book, after I got my original Liege muff pistol (Ladies would carry one in their hand muff).
I haven't shot either one, yet, but plan to, shortly.

The name Liegi comes from the town where it was proof-marked, Liege, Belgium.

The town has a great history that can be researched.
I've been there, once, and it looks like it's from a movie, with the twisty narrow city streets, dead ends, and buildings built right up to the edge of the sidewalk. Really neat!

You know I'm really considering getting one. I found the super companion model for $325 in stock. It comes with 250 projectiles and a spare cylinder with nipples and a loading lever stand and also a small leather flap type holster. And I think a small locking case.
And.....I ordered it !
Now it's off to powder valley for some 4fg. Hopefully I can find Hodgkin's triple 7 in that granulation
