I bought a Spanish .50 cal Hawken made in Ardessa Spain. The bore was cruddy but it cleaned up with some elbow grease. This isn't a CVA Hawken. This one is a very good copy, actually put a T/C to shame. It's double pinned, hooked breech, long tang and double set triggers. It has deep groove rifling. If I strip the stain and darken it, it will look as good as my custom Hawken. I have been doing this since 72 and I have never seen one before. I have a feelng these came out of the same place that made CVA stuff. CVA should have been selling these. It shoots good too! Anyone ever see these?
    Thanks

Without a photo it's hard to say if anyone has seen one of these rifles.

The double "pinned" if that is refering to a flat wedge is typical of the CVA Mountain rifle so that might be what you have but here again, without seeing it, I'm just guessing.

Yes. The Ardessa plant did make CVA for many years,,marketing and international patent issues forced minor changes in the stock and configuration.
CVA changed in the later years of production to cheaper Spanish makers.
CVA was an importer and only made a few hundred here stateside, the custom shop did have a few commemorative runs to the mix that confuses things.
Ardessa made ML guns are still made and sold in the European market and held in high regard.
The difference was/is all about the finish of the stamped out assembly parts,,

Many of the Traditions rifles are made by Ardesa S.A. of spain

I also have guns from Jukar and Dikar Spain. They all shoot great.

    ABOUT COMPANY

ARDESA was born originally over 30 years ago as a small muzzleloading gun factory, which over the years has become one of the largest muzzleloading names in the world.

Our annual production reaches 60.000 - 70.000 weapons a year, being our export share of 95%. In the United States our guns are distributed under the name of TRADITIONS.

During all these years we have developed first line products, with the latest technological innovations which are cutting edge in the industry.

10 years ago we began a new adventure and we became distributors of guns, ammunition and accesories related to the world of hunting and shooting.

Our philosophy is simple, we seek the best and we try to offer the best.

But not being satisfied with our achievements, 2 years ago we considered the difficult challenge of being granted the permissions to manufacture rifled guns, and here we are offering you the most inovative single shot rifle of the industry, the OUTFITTER.

We are proud of being able to offer our friends this new product and we hope it will be the begining of a new line of rifles. We have worked very hard, but we have succeeded.

This page is the result of our dedication and commitment to the sector , created with the intention of offering to the lovers of hunting, shooting and guns in general a channel to comunicate with us, so we invite you to tell us your stories and send us your questions. We will do everything that is in our hand to get back to you.

Best regards, happy hunting, happy shooting and keep fighting for our hobby.

    Ardesa's Team.

Imagine a Sam Hawken rifle, not a T/C CVA or traditions Hawken! Like I said This is the first one I've ever seen.

Are you sure it's a factory original and not someone's redo ?

Pictures would make this soooo much easier.
