Seems like the more I get into blackpowder, the further back in time I go. I just recently got a matchlock from Loyalist Arms. I also got some of Dixie Gun Works matchlock fuse, but it's very narrow - they claim 3/16", but it seems more like 1/8", almost as narrow as cannon fuse. It will work in this gonne, but something thicker would be better, probably 1/4"-3/8".

I've found a few recipes on the web, and undoubtably will eventually try making my own. But does anyone know of a source besides DGW for fuse?

Or if you have a fuse recipe, please post!

TIA

I'm currently having great luck with 1/4" cotton sash cord with the nylon core pulled out and the rest soaked overnight in a solution of saltpeter and water. I haven't developed a specific recipe yet, but I basically filled a 20 oz. gatorade bottle with water and dropped in about 2.5 tablespoons of KNO3 to start. It actually seems a bit rich, so I might back off a bit on the KNO3.

Check out the thread just above this one..."I've got it". Sounds like Volutpluvia has found a good method.
