I consider the horn a nearly perfect vessel to carry black powder. It is all I use when not at the range, and is use at the range as well. I shoot from the bag mostly anymore, and I enjoy it more.

Exactly. Really makes the entire discussion pointless. Except it reinforces the adage of "do yer own thang".
And had a lot more common sense than a lot of folks nowadays.

I have found that our ancestors did things the way they did and made things the way they did because they worked rather than looking good. OK sometimes they did both, but it was that they worked well that really mattered. The powder horn being a case in point. They do the job perfectly and they look good.
Being we have it so easy today compared to our ancestors a lot of us don't have to practice common sense like they did!

Black powder is a low explosive. It can explode whether it's confined in a vessel or not.
