My shooting buddy has you beat. He has launched TWO steel rammers downrange. We found one. It was bent into a "U" shape. The other one, never found it. I was standing next to him and got hit by pieces of musket cap from the huge back pressure thru the nipple.

I saw that same movie last week, if i remember right after that he shoot another. He loaded by spitting the ball down the barrel and tapping the stock on the ground.

Shot mine once, but it was on purpose. I don't recall exactly what happened, but it seems I remember a spit patch followed by two dry after a shot.
The ramrod somehow stuck on a patch, and I couldn't get it out any which way.
I took the nipple off, give it a pinch of black powder down the hole, replaced the nipple and lit it off.
The ramrod held up and all was well. (The ramrod was from http://www.periodramrod.com/ . No, I don't work for them, but I appreciate the strength due to my clumsiness!)
