I am in need of welding the tang to my BP plug, any ideas who can do this in Scottsdale, AZ?

Thanks. :surrender:

Yeah, TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas)welding is the preferred method for such work. I use mine occasionally for such detail work and it is the most precise hand held weld I am aware of.
It would be a good idea to heat sink the plug area so heat will not migrate and change the temper/strength of it. Mike D.

I've high temp silver soldered {brazing} a tang to a plug...there's normally sufficient surface. This can be done w/ a thin sheet of silver solder and a Mapp Gas torch in your shop. I'm fortunate that I've got silver solder that mikes at .005 thick and is used to braze carbide inserts into tool bits....which see a lot more force than a tang.....Fred

Most likely, just about any welding shop, machine shop, or auto body shop with a wire welder can do it. You may also have 5 out of 25 neighbors with such a welder in their garage. Or a neighbor that restores cars ? he will have a wire welder if he is serious of his hobby. Make sure they are using Argon/mix bottle on the welder, Not flux core wire.
