Is there anyone here who has knowledge and/or experience with buck/ball loads in a 12 or 10 gauge shotgun? I need some reliable intel. Thanks in advance.

Yes I've done them in 12 gauge and .75 musket. What exactly were you in need to know? They are not very good for hunting as a load (imho). Buckshot alone would be better when the range is close and the locality allows it for hunting. ;)

As an SD round in combat, 1 vs. 1 might give the shooter an advantage, but the buck-n-ball rounds were really (iirc) meant for volley fire at quite close range, and would then amplify the effect of the volley vs. a bayonet charge.., or cavalry. (Not sure at 25 yards that dropping a horse that was inbound at 50 mph with a rider brandishing a saber is the best idea... inertia, don't ya know. :()
