How do I get the smell out?

It's not the lead that stinks, it's all the other stuff in it that burn off.

I was showing a friend how to cast, the pot was smoking terribly, burned our eyes and stunk to high heaven. I deduced it stank like urine, he then recalled he saw his dog peeing on the bucket of wheel weights.

Wow! Thats something you wont soon forget! That was almost 40 years ago.

Wow, if the smell jute bothers you then DON'T ever try using period correct Stockholm Tar or using real Smoked Brain Tan Hide for anything!
Personally I LOVE those smells, I even use real Pine Tar Soap in the shower.
No jute anywhere has anything on good Stockholm Tar or a freshly Smoked Brain Tan hide.

...excuse me now, I have to go open a bag tarred jute cord and take a deep breath of some smoked buckskin!
