I have a TC 50 cal Hawken and a CVS 50 cal Mountain rifle- one with the Douglass barrel. I haven't shot either for about 10 years and just replaced all my accessories courtesy of a divorce :cursing: . My problem is I cann't remember what my loads were for the guns. I will be using 3F and want to know what a good starting load will be so I can dial em back in. I also have a 50 cal mountain pistol and need to o the same with that. Any help wouold be greatly appreceated. I'll be using .490 hornady round balls and .15 ox yoke patches. Thanks in advance. :grin:
 
Start at 50gr FFFg and work up and down from there. You should be able to dial in a load that each rifle like best.
 
My favorite load for my CVA .50 mountain rifle is 70gr.FFFg. hornady balls like yours. Good medium load and accurate for me.
