I have a TC 50 cal Hawken and a CVS 50 cal Mountain rifle- one with the Douglass barrel. I haven't shot either for about 10 years and just replaced all my accessories courtesy of a divorce :cursing: . My problem is I cann't remember what my loads were for the guns. I will be using 3F and want to know what a good starting load will be so I can dial em back in. I also have a 50 cal mountain pistol and need to o the same with that. Any help wouold be greatly appreceated. I'll be using .490 hornady round balls and .15 ox yoke patches. Thanks in advance.

Start at 50gr FFFg and work up and down from there. You should be able to dial in a load that each rifle like best.

My favorite load for my CVA .50 mountain rifle is 70gr.FFFg. hornady balls like yours. Good medium load and accurate for me.
