On Sunday....55 gn of T7 with a .490 ball;

50 yds (off hand) and 100 yds (1 knee) respectively. Man I never knew how much fun I was missing with these old timey rifles. I love shooting it. Sent a couple over the top at 100 then clipped the target top but after that started to get it looking a little better. I know the ladder sight is not PC but it sure helps me hit what I'm aiming at...

It's funny how you take a muzzleloader to the range, then 4 or 5 hours is gone before you know it. You think, well maybe it's time to pack up....well a couple more shots....then another couple of hours gone. I need to pack a lunch....
What's really great is when you realize after those four hours that you only went through about 10 bucks worth of lead and powder... You could burn through a paycheck after 4 hours with unmentionables.

Nice shooting i took mine out for the first time 50 cal 490 round balls was breaking barrel in . 50 yrds 50 grains goex 2f

Just finished removing the Skinner rear ladder sight and installed the original rear buckhorn that came with the rifle. I am going to give it another go, since I am much more comfortable shooting it now. Hopefully try it out again next week, and see how it goes. I am sure I can get it working for me, and the rifle is as it should be again. :)....HC.

Went shooting yesterday original sights un touched. The target is 11×11 at 50 yrds goex 2f yes the target was posted upside down
