I am looking through open sights and there are several lines across the rear sight.

Are these used somehow for distances? I had a problem with the my shots being high, even after I lowered the sight as far as it can. I know it is my sight line. I line the front pin flush with the rear cut out.

Am I missing something?

One of mine has those lines, they are to take the glare away from the notch. If you have back sight down as far as it will go and you are still shooting high? On my kit guns, if hit low I file down the front sight to bring it up. Before I shoot a new gun I measure the(bottom) notch in back from the top of barrel, then measure the front and mark, I find that when I am done fileing I am right at the mark. Depending on how I postion the front sight in back notch. This is on sights that don't move up or down.I haven.t shot my sharpshooter yet. My brother bought it at yard sale for 70.00. It is in new shape. He sold it to me for a 100.00. Someone will chime in with more Data. Dilly
