8 or so years ago, i gave on bp hunting. i had a lyman deerstalker in 50 cal but for years i wanted to sell it. i've killed deer with it, patched round ball and 80gr ffg. i bought in a auction a cva hawkens lh flintlock(1 in 48") in 50 cal. i plan on doing maxi balls, just because. i pan lubed them up(16oz beeswax, 16oz crisco and 2 or 3 tablespoons of lanolin). i am going to work up loads(70-100gr of ffg) but i'm hoping on 80gr ffg. 50-60 yards will be long shot and 20-30 yards is most likely for deer.

i've never used maxi balls before(my dad has the mould), but i'm wondering if i should use wads(pre or un lubed) or should i just set on the powder?

thanks!!!! if the maxi balls don't work, then i'll try lee's real bullet mould.
