Cougarz, it is sorta an inside joke from the last Hawken thread where prolific poster 1776 said he might be being a snob, but, when he sees Hawken in a title he expects it to be about an original or have a qualifying description!

All mostly good natured. LOL

Member "Herb" on here makes some fine Hawken style rifles in both flint and percussion.
I think he is in northest Utah.

Yah I wouldn't be afraid to get ahold of Herb...he makes some REAL NICE Hawken rifles and Im sure he'd treat ya right.

Thanks for that suggestion. I really enjoyed their site. The only reason I'm not ordering a L.E. Johnson special is the 18 months wait. I am a little to old for that lead time. I wonder if they would build it with a tapered barrel? Oh well!
