Cannot find Black Powder

Ok so I have a problem. There is nowhere near me I can find Black Powder, the closest is a 5 hour drive each way and they only have swiss 1.5Fg in stock...I know there is a big to do about Black Powder Substitutes but the only stuff that is readily available near me is Pyrodex or Triple Seven.

Now I need to know simply is there any way of making this work? WITHOUT the usual comments of adding a little BP to the charge and pan has anyone had any success or little tricks?

Five hour drive? Why not get with a few shooting friends and buy a case or two among you. That would make a five hour drive worth it.

Agree with @Cruzatte.

If you are not using a flintlock then Pyrodex or 777 will work for you. BP may be the gold standard but it is hard to get everywhere. A lot of stores won’t stock BP in house anymore due to insurance requirements.

Then he's screwed! Good luck with that!, I have friends in BC and I'm in WA, they come across the border twice a year to pick up BP they have shipped to me, 5 lbs each is the limit crossing the border , there is no BP to be had in BC

I agree, but none of my friends are interested in shooting and I haven't made any shooting buddies yet lol

With a bunch of .58 lead balls and 30 hours of milling time, it's now Swiss 3F.

Buy the 1.5F and start milling it down to 3F.

Hold some back to grind into 4F.

My guess would be not so good, I contacted some places in canada but few couriers will carry it and the prices are nuts... one courier wanted $400

Yeah, in that situation I'd quit wasting my time asking where and how to get it, and start earning the knowledge on how to make my own. People make their own for gits and shiggles in the US.

I'm pretty much at that point and I haven't even shot the thing yet.
