Maximum speed with Black powder

Even if the velocity exceeds what is needed, the trajectory improved for the longer shots.

Not that it matters to me since I'm pretty much an under 100 yard shooter.

Lyman records 2158 for a .54 160 grains/ 43” barrel, a .50 at 2354 170 grains 43”, .45 2357 100 grains 43”, 40 2333 110 grains 43”, 36 2505 70 grains 43”
Note 36 is a one to one load and the .50 almost one to one 40 more then one to one
