This is sort of a shot in the dark, but are there any decent books/guides to collecting British (and/or European) firearms accessories? Especially from the 19th Century? Essentially I'm interesting in learning more about all the accouterments that used to come in the case with these fine rifles.

Google MLAGB (muzzle loader asoc Great Briton ) these guys are realy realy switched on they know about every screw, nail and gun the British ever had .

I have a nice little book, "English Sporting Guns and Accessories", by MacDonald Hastings, which I can recommend. Not a comprehensive treatise, but well done with a lot of good photos. It is available from Amazon for only a few dollars.
