I am in the middle of doing research to build my own hand mortar I was wondering if there was anyone out there who has already done this that could ask some questions about

Seems I remember The Rifle Shoppe has a parts set for this.

I built one using the TRS parts years ago.. Whats the question??

I, for one do not recommend using DOM tubing for a black powder barrel.

The implication is that DOM tubing is seamless but it is not.
It just looks like seamless tubing because the inside and outside surfaces have been processed to cover up the weld bead that runs for the full length of the tube.

The weld bead is not a lapped joint weld but a simple butt weld done by an automatic welding machine.
Typically, butt welds are not a strong weld joint.

Hi Little Buck,
I believe the originals were made of bronze or brass so steel DOM tubing would not be HC regardless of safety.
