We were looking at a catalog from The Gun Works and they have a picture of their 4 bore rifle on the cover. So my scientist wife asks "How big is a 4 bore?" 4 balls to the pound,I smugly reply...
Nope,she wanted the Diameter...
Not feeling so smug now... :shake:

Yep. 1 inch for a ML. I am currenly doing a scratch build on one. Will be a double barrel smoothbore, sporting either two rocklocks or two back action percussion locks.

I am more partial to the flint locks though. :hmm: :v

Received my two barrels last week and believe me, its BIG. Will double (excuse the pun :haha: ) AS As a shot gun too. :blah: :youcrazy:

Not sure about the wood yet, but it will definitely be an African hardwood. :hatsoff:

Holy manure!!!!! A 4ga sxs FLINT :shocked2: ??? You wont have to worry about the left lock being in front of your face, it'll be over by your left EAR!!!!!

The one I fired, shot a ball 1.042 in diameter that weighed somewhere around 1200 grains. the rifle weighed 29lbs.

Plainsman,
They are in the sponsers list here at the forum so you can visit their website and order one I'd guess. They just sent it with the pistol that we bought from them. The rifles are a custom build but a standard item from what I can see.My 62 smoothbore is big enough for me...

Claude,Thanks for the chart.

I like your choice of words... :haha: :haha:

Good looking gun. Any closeups?

Looks more like a two or three wall gun! :) Sorry, I could not resist. It is a fine looking piece
