Army wool blankets are cheap , strong and easy to find .You can very easily line it with cotton if you want , its not necessary but looks good ,esp. pillow ticking . Very easy to make . Trace your firearm on paper make it larger , straight lines ,trace with marker on wool ,spine on pattern ... flip pattern , spine same line , marker that side too....cut it out ...do same on liner if you want a liner ... Put liner on wool , fold them together ...one lone seam to sew ...very easy . Love mine .... Mine I left the end , open end just open ...fine with me ...some put a long piece there with a leather thing to tie close the opening ....

Mine do double duty as bow cases. One is from the 60s and is an old Bear Tamerlane leather target bow case. The other three are sewed up blanket cases. All work.

I have several Unique rifle and handgun cases. They are well built and reasonably priced. You do need to measure your gun correctly, and read the company’s sizing recommendations. The cases I’ve bought from them for long guns have a rod sleeve on the side, which I like. Based on personal experience, I can recommend them.

I haven’t been to a big gun show in years, but here in Florida there used to be a vendor at the big shows selling “Liberty” brand soft cases. These were mostly for modern guns, so they didn’t have a case suitable for longrifles, but their longest shotgun case was perfect for muzzleloading rifles with 32” barrels, like the CVA Mountain Rifle, the Lyman GPR, or the Pedersoli Rocky Mountain Hawken. These Liberty soft cases are all black and very plainly appointed, but of really good quality at a fair price. I have several of them. However, I’ve only seen them at shows. I haven’t looked recently, but never could find them for sale online.

Just a simple narrow gun case that came with a gun I bought years ago . Nothing special , ain't lined but serves me well . Made from a wool blanket , a taught seam . Opening 8" , other end , 5 1/4" as it lays ... simple

Unique cases go as long as 66-inches, which just fits my gun with a 48-inch barrel. The cases Kibler sells are made by Unique. Good product. Ace cases also makes long soft cases, but I think only up to 60-inches.
October country and maybe crazy crow offer blanket cases.
I ordered two cases from Unique Cases. Never heard back. No cases delivered. Sent several email. No response. Phone numbers disconnected. Spent almost 45 minutes with my credit card setting up a dispute with Unique Cases. BEWARE!!!
