I stumbled onto this thread from a web search. I am located in Cave Creek, AZ. Been interested in older firearms since before I was a teenager and had my first ML when I was 13. A .58 Zouave which is quite a gun for a 13yr old to shoot. Currently have two Hawken style rifles, a .32 percussion squirrel rifle, 1858 Remington .44 and my first actual flintlock, a Pedersoli .50cal Kentucky rifle. I have owned many Colts and other rifles, I will keep the Kentucky until the day I die.

Welcome from "little Hollywood"........... :D

Flintlock Whiskey, what you have stumbled on is a large group of [c'mon - unnecessary] that post indiscriminately without much real experience.
Most just like to see their comments in print. They live in apartments and shoot at public ranges occasionally. Most have cheap factory made longrifles and all are self appointed experts. Most are horrified at simple tasks involving something as basic as removing a breechplug. I hope that you don’t fit in. I watch it for laughs with my coffee in the morning. Happy laughs.

Okay..........
Kind of new here, so not sure how to reply to this (hope it is playful sarcasm). I will say this to everyone: no matter what your situation is, anyone with the passion to be involved in a hobby that reflects a time when the most efficient way to procure food and/or protect oneself was to pour crude gunpowder down a metal tube, ram a lead projectile down on top of it and hope that it would ignite when desired, is a brother of mine. I will let that suffice.

The sad thing is that what I said is true. I wish that it wasn’t. Look at the thread on “Stuck Minie Ball”. 14 pages of **. ["I strongly disagree with some opinions that aren't mine" - is what I am sure he meant to say - Stumpy].
