Just the same when they were new ,the Skycheif load is not new it was used in that period only difference is the type of ingredients including the wads.

great guns! thank's for posting!!There was another type of gun built specially for the sport of Live Pigeon shooting from traps which lasted in the UK for just over a hundred years ,before pigeon shooting it was popular using sparrows instead of pigeons One of the well known places recorded for both sparrow shooting from traps and the same for pigeons was Plumstead Marshes near London .
The percussion guns that were specially built came in large bore sizes from a 4 down to a 12 they were built with little drop at the comb so when you sighted in they were very straight with your eye only focussed on the muzzle bead this was to regulate them to shoot high , also they were minus a ramrod image enclosed

You can open a choke easier than you can close itI'm in the same boat with looking, mostly what I'm seeing are 12 gauges. And most of those are tightly choked.
The Pedersoli is not as elegant as the old guns. Very, very nice!My percussion shotguns left to right

Pedersoli kits are less expensive and very easy to put together. But I do agree that the best buys are found on gunbroker etc.I'm in the same boat with looking, mostly what I'm seeing are 12 gauges. And most of those are tightly choked.
Naw, just put that sucker in a vice and squeeze. Squares it up a mite and you don't want to try caliber specific round balls. (chuckle)You can open a choke easier than you can close it
Dunks what would it cost get 1 sent to USA?Lot of them over here in the Uk. English made and original. Single barrel ones are usually very cheap.
I have an original Birmingham made 16g double in excellent condition. Cost £300.
