I've been working on an old ASM 51 colt, the nipples were frozen in place and after soaking them in break free for three days and screwing up my nipple wrench I finally got them all out.

they are a smaller thread size than the standered 6 x.75 thread used on my Pietta's

any ideas on the correct size nipples

I got a set for my ASM 1860 from Deer Creek Products just this spring.
They didn't state the size just ASM Colt.
$13.50 for the set, shipping was 5.75 but I got some other stuff and they toss in a current catalog.
Best price I found and they wrok with #10 caps without a hitch.
They don't have a web site you have to call them, debit or credit card over the phone, Great folks to work with.

Dixie gunworks shows a 5.5 X .9 nipple "For Uberti 1851 and 1861 Navy, 1860 Army, 1862 Police, 1849 Baby Pocket..."

a 5.5mm thread should measure .216 diameter.

TOTW also shows this is available in Ampco.

Also listed on that same TOTW link are nipples for the TC Seneca and Cherokee and Patriot is a #12-28 nipple.
The #12 thread size is also .216 and a 28 thread pitch equals 0.91mm which is virtually the same as the metric nipple mentioned above.
