Inspired by Old Salt's contribution, I thought I'd try posting an image. This was taken using Sony's "multi burst" mode, getting an image every 1/30 of a second.

The gun is an old original Brit. by Richards, circa 1805

Yep, pretty reliable.

Interestingly, the frizzen is fairly soft. I once sharpened a flint with a diamond file so it had a smooth sharp edge all the way across, and it dug into the frizzen - locked it up good.

I know some folks who still think it's mere luck when a flintlock fires a gun. Silly people. :shake:
