i really like the handforged iron hardware, I'm partial to it myself. I guess it's that "shiny rifle" thing I don't like. Anyway, whats the back story with the butt? It looks like the buttplate was too short? That and the really long comb piece,?? did you get a bad piece of wood and had to cover a large knot? Whatever the reason, your treatment of the repair was way cool. I've never seen anything like it. Please take this the right way, it looks like a backwoods gunsmith made an inexpensive but necessary repair to an otherwise useable rifle. At least thats what I would tell people at the rendezvous. Then I'd proudly tell them I was that gunsmith. Good job, well done. :hatsoff:

Thank you for your kind words, The butt plate is on a rifle in vol 2 of Jerry Nobles series of books.I made the comb a little longer then the original. It might be a little long for colder climates. The ash stock, barrel, triggers and lock are from sitting fox. The nose cap I had the rest was made.

Where did you get the ramrod tip? I just finished my .25 and would love to get one for my ramrod to protect the tip on the ramrod that took a LONG time to thin down.

Recon, I don't know if Ray Franks at Sitting Fox just has the jag end. He dose have the complete ramrod.Dan
