Revolver civil war paper cartridge question

Does a lubricant, such as beeswax and tallow, on a conical bullet degrade black powder in a paper cartridge when exposed to hot weather melting lubricant into the black powder? Was this a problem with revolver paper cartridges during the civil war in a holstered revolver for long periods or for paper cartridges that were issued in the six-cartridge boxes?
