Wife, stepson and I are going to a shoot tomorrow morning. In getting prepared for this shoot I have been teaching wife and step son loading, shooting, cleaning, tossing hawk and knife and starting fire with flint and steel. Anyhow, we loaded rifles up in car and I flushed barrels with cleaner, did not pop caps yet. I’m curious as to how early you guys flush your barrels and pop caps before a shoot? I guess I’ve never flushed barrels this early before.

I clean and light oil barrel after shooting. Next time out I swab the bore real good, pop a couple of caps and shoot.

Normally I overkill on protecting the barrel, I spray fluid film directly into the barrel and swab. However, when I go to shoot,I then need to flush barrel really well and then pop caps. I just now lightly oiled the bore for over night storage, tomorrow I’ll swab with dry patch, pop a few caps should be good to go.
