Not bad a'tall, but you might save some work by just using a heavy strap, instead of sewing one like that. I don't know how correct the wood ends are, but you might use a smaller tack, with many more of them. Do a little research, I am no expert on pormanteau's. I would suggest that you round the edges of the cover flap, at least a tad, rather than the square cut, but overall, a nice job.

Hard to tell by the photo.

Nice job TB! I would add a carry handle to the end so the pack doesn't bulge or gap when you carry it. Maybe another strap in the center as well. I think Mr. Ellerbe may have something about the smaller tacks too. Excellent work as usual TwoBellys!

thanks for the ideas ill put them to use on the next one but i think i will use leather ends.

Looks good, Two Bellies but this is the 1st one I've seen. Never heard of a portmanteau but I suppose it's an early suitcase. What can you tell me about it's history? GW

Is the handle leather sewn around a bit of rope? Looks good to me.

I would use leather for the ends. Been contemplating making one as well. Might use your handle on mine if I can find some research that it is correct.
