I bought a couple of these in the past year. Very impressed with their appearance and function. They seem near perfect to my untrained eye.

Does anyone know they compare to the original 1858 Remingtons in terms of metallurgy, fit & finish, durability, accuracy, etc.?

Frames are somewhat stronger then the originals , chamber to bore match is good unlike originals .

They are machined out of modern steel on CNC equipment, so they are probably superior in almost every way to the originals, except perhaps in the fitting and hardening of the internal parts.
I once held an original side by side with a Pietta and was surprised at how closely this clone came to the real Remington in feel and dimension. There's been a lot more variation in the various Colts, especially in the grip area.

There are a couple of brands today that are probably better than origionals. Todays steel is probably better and modern machines can hold tight tollarences without as much hand fitting.

I bet that there are revolvers today that are shot many times what they were in yeste year. Geo. T.
