This month's contest will be a deer hunter's checkup. 3 shots at the center of a blank piece of 8.5" by 11" printer paper at 50 yards.

Standard rules will apply. I'll edit this post later to include the specific rules. No time right now.

OK, here are the official rest of the rules for the contest. Sorry I took so long getting them posted. Been busy...
Due to the fact that it is hunting season and the holidays are fast approaching, I have decided to run this contest all the way until the end of December to give everyone time to get out and do some shootin'.

3 shots at the center of a blank piece of 8.5" by 11" printer paper at 50 yards.

Each shot will be measured from the center of the hole to the center of the target, exact center of the 8.5" by 11" sheet of paper. The 3 measurements will be added together for the total score. Lowest score wins.

One target entry per member.

3 shots per target.

Mutilated targets and targets with more than 3 holes will be disqualified.

No do-overs.

Only registered forum members may participate.

Only traditional, open iron sighted muzzleloading rifles (NO Cannons). Percussion or flintlock ignition. (you can use a smoothbore or pistol if you would like)

Single patched round ball only. No restrictions on caliber. (a patchless ball may be used if so desired)

Shots will be taken off-hand at 50 yards.(Standing or seated is allowed, elbows unsupported by anything other than the shooters torso)(In the event that a member is not physically able to hold his rifle up unsupported, a "prop-rod" that is supported only by the shooters torso, no part of which prop-rod may touch the ground, may be used to hold up the fore-end of the rifle)

Only original targets will be accepted. No copies, faxes, scans, etc.

The center of the target will be determined by the judge.

Judges decisions are final.

Each contestant's score will be posted at the end of the contest.

Your member screen name and caliber of your gun must be written on your targets.

The contest runs thru December, 2013.

Mail your target postmarked by December 31, 2013 to;

Jim Green
P.O.Box 322
Pekin, IL 61555

Targets will not be returned unless an S.A.S.E. is included.

Be safe and have fun! :hatsoff:

Always wanted to hunt one of those miniature 8.5 X 11 deer.

So, can we draw a pic of a deer on it? (just kidding)

This sound different, I may just try this one! I may be able to hit an 8.5x11 paper, but I sure can't hit a deer at 50 yds, at least I haven't this year!

Hey Jethro can I use a non adjustable primitive style peep sight for this shoot.

Sorry, but no. Only open sights.

:hmm: I might do another "Run What Ya Brung" contest soon where anything goes. Been a while since I did one of those.
Keep yer eyes peeled for one of those.

Dang it all! My digital caliper has gone AWOL! Lucky for me there were not but 3 entries this time. I had to do my best with a regular old ruler to do the scoring. I went to the nearest 1/16th of an inch as best as I could.
There's a pretty good spread so, even if I'm a bit off, I'm sure I got 'em in the correct placement.
As soon as I can figger out where I put that caliper I'll measure 'em proper.

Bakeoven Bill takes first place in the deer hunting contest... with a .32 squirrel rifle... :idunno:
7 7/16" :hatsoff:

MDK-WV takes 2nd... with a deer rifle...
10 1/4"

Grey Whiskers came in 3rd... also with a deer rifle... :stir:
11 7/8"

Thanks for playing guys. Sorry I took so long getting the scores posted. Had Bill's target in-hand since almost the beginning of the contest but didn't get back down to the post office until today to check for more targets.

You didn't get a target from buripity?

Nope. Just those 3. When I got yours I wondered where his was. Thought you said you 2 went shootin' together. :idunno:

Congratulations to Bakeoven Bill & Grey Whiskers. Good shootin, :hatsoff: Thanks Jethro for another excuse to get out and burn some powder.
