I have a percussion pistol that i would like info on. The bore measures out to .62 cal. It has a 5.10" smooth bore barrel. O.A.L. of pistol is 9.5". Markings on left side of barrel are: (c)(a) (c). On the lock plate are the words: Mre Nle de Tulle.bottom of trigger guard has a capital M. Any ideas guys? :hmm:

It's a French mod. 1822 flint conversion.
The 1822's that I have references on don't have a back action lock like this pistol. I searched all my books and have not found one like the one in question.

thanks for the info on my pistol. I had a gun dealer tell me that the pistol was french but he had no idea of the year or possible worth of the gun thanks again

Hello,
This is a pistol for French Gendarmes (law officers) and T stand for "transformed from flint to percussion. "Bis" is mentionned when the barrel has been rifled.

For instance a pistol 1822 was flint and smooth bore, 1822T was percussion and smooth bore and 1822Tbis was percussion and rifled. At the time, gun had to last a long time !!!
