Zoli finally yielded to pressure and started doing .54 caliber in a cut rifling a few years ago for the M.1803 Harpers Ferry and the M.1841 Mississippi...Windsor...Jaeger...what have you! While looking for something else, if passed by Lodgewood's site d saw some of what they do to Mississippis...if I was still doing Civil war reenacting, I'd sure be tempted to make a Mississippi look like it was from Mississippi!

The rifle was a specially order item since .58 was the usual caliber they sold. I had to wait but the wait was worth it. Yes, the trigger is excellent as is fit & finish. And a walnut stock, IMO, beats out any other hardwood for this rifle. At the time I ordered it, Dixie's version sold for $800. Mine, from Jarnigan's, was just a little over $400.

OK, that explains why you got a good trigger and walnut stock. Thank you.

I just wanted to inform folks that such a good trigger is not usual in any of the Repro Mississippi rifles, as one usually receives them. A trigger job will fix that, though.

They do a great job with their alterations of the M41 and it does look good. I had to order and then wait on my .54 because I really didn't want a .58 which was not the original caliber. Long ago I had a Zouave .58 with a generic hardwood stock. The wood was not as hard and lasting as the walnut; but the rifle was okay until I eventually got tired of it. I still have the minie and rb molds for it, too. I will admit I was surprised at the quality of the rifle especially remembering the Zouave.
