Can't find the style I want on the websites of Track or Log Cabin... anybody know where I can get a turnscrew similar in design to the ones shown as item #5 and #6 on page 264 of Neumann's Collector's Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution?

Roy -- are those things in your repertoire?

Post an image and I will search for you, since I don't have the book to see for myself...

Robert,
Have you tried Dixie Gun Works? Also
I was thinking(which can be dangerous) with the proper photos and measurements any smithy worth
his salt could widdle one out fairly quickly and
maybe cheaper than from a supplier. Just a thought. :hmm:
snake-eyes

I think an old trapspring eye with a section of the spring left, a propane torch, and some pounding and filing and you could make a pretty close copy?

TG I like your attitude. when did we come to depend on kits and mail order suppliers ?If you need something, look at the price and then say CAN DO. and make your own and pocket the shipping charges. By the way Steel strapping tape can be made into a very good half sole for a dug up frizzen , with some casinite a propane torch and some epoxy. lonesome bob aka Seabee1931

Aw man I don't have that book, but heres one that I made.

Thanks for the pics, and the links, Musketman. The second one is pretty close to what I had in mind.

Roy: dropped you a PM to ask about your different styles.

Bob: I was thinking about carving a rose on the stock of my rifle. Know where I can find some good drawings to work from?

Wait a while and they will be blooming, otherwise there are several wood carving books that depict roses........

It was a shot in the dark, not having seen the book you were making reference too...

I am just happy to help...
