Here are two close ups of the engraved plate. It is held in with two pins. I do not know what is underneath. It may be easy to replace, or you could polish out the engraving; it is not terribly deep. Or change your name to match the initials: RuP. My camera does not focus very well up close.

John M. Rice was a builder in the Vergennes, VT area in the 1960s and 1970s, He operated as Otter Creek Rifle Works (the OCRW and beaver are his touch marks). He moved to the Carolinas, I believe, in the 1990s and died there. At one point I had seen his obit, but can't find it now.

The Cochran locks (I misspelled it) were made by a guy in Texas. They are great little locks, and one of the very few "small Siler-type" locks made in left hand flintlock. They a snappy little locks, and spark well. Not hard on flints. I have three including this one.

Look for a PM in our conversation.

Regards,

In response to recent off-line inquiries, I am reducing the price of this rifle to $650, shipped to the lower 48. This will go no lower.

I will be bringing this item to an event next Sunday; interested parties are requested to contact me before then.
