We are having the same issues up here in canukastan. I thought it was our border control preventing ammunition from coming up from the US. Now that I’m hearing from you folks that begs the question, why the shortages?
Perhaps NEW WORLD ORDER, and those who some of us elected to positions of leadership, Watch the U.N. and their grand plans for the new so called let's say utopia. It's not there its drying up and will perhaps not be re-plenished. Cannot get all the guns so limit or stop the ammo of all types, a gun is useless if nothing to shoot from it. Problem solved. O.K. I SHOOT A MUZZLELOADER I CAN BREW MY OWN, then along comes the restrictions on the needed supplies to accomplish that. The old saying of over, under, around, through it applies here no matter what it takes to get the mission accomplished.

Something to think about, when the socialist guys ban imports of weapons from other countries (un-mentionable) wonder if the black powder weapons will be in effect compromised. It's coming. to the point that these folks realize they will never get all weapons so there cinching up the noose one step at a time. To restrict the numbers available. Examples are cap, powder availability for us. Then there are the shortages for ammo, ammo components and other things related to modern firearms. So, in a sense the sky is not falling especially if your head is in the sand and we just wander about thinking only about the hobby we peruse, not looking outside the box so to speak at the picture in a whole perspective.
"So, in a sense the sky is not falling especially if your head is in the sand"

Only those who did not plan ahead had their head in the sand.

Exactly, without making outright laws we are being herded like cattle in all areas of our lives to purchase (or not purchase) what they want us to have through supply, regulations, and litigations on manufacturers. America...still the best, but going down fast.

I'm prepared and have enough stuff to keep all of my guns shooting for the rest of my life. The gooberment and all of their stupid plans aren't having any effect on me.

I have heard several people say when the “blue hats” come marching down the street they will wait and take their toys .
I have also heard that the American population are better armed than most countries.

I have my sporting stash which may or may not last as long as me. ???? And I have my other stash to be used only if all hell is breaking loose.

It’s getting pretty hard trying to find items for muzzle loading in stock any more. I think we will need to learn how to make things that we need, like they used to.
Could you be a little more specific? What items are you looking for? I'm not having any trouble finding the things I need; flints, powder, lead (which I usually am able to find for free). Craft items like fabric, thread, buttons, artificial sinew,, beads, porcupine quills, as well as leather of all kinds all seem to be abundant.

I'm not needing anything right now. I've just noticed that the abundance of muzzeloaders from the places that carry them are few and far between.

I would never have noticed that since two of the three I own I built, the third one was made by a guy named Rod Gates out of Missouri. If I wanted a new gun, I'd build it.

There are lots of folks unlike you, who are not capable of building a gun.

I go to a modern gun store for the services of a great gunsmith there.

On one wall there are numerous ML rifles that a guy has on consignment. He travels and buys rifles as he finds them. They never sell, there is no interest in them.

Rifles are out there, just have to put some effort in finding them. There have been some fine rifles for sale over the years, just have to be patient and have a stash of cash.

For me, here is why: I spent a lifetime working hard, pinching pennies, not purchasing the "feel good" stuff. Now I can finally spend some of that money. Can't do a lot of that young guy fun stuff so now if I see something I want and have a few cents in the bank, I get it. He who dies with the most toys, wins!
Unfortunately, he who dies with the most toys is still DEAD!

I go out in my garage and see tools that I can't even remember where or when I got them. Don't even get me started on the gun stuff, I have so much misc. stuff I have no idea where it came from. I'm afraid to sell it or discard it because I might need it someday.
Stuff is good. :thumb:

The best course of action is to throw nothing away.

And 30 years down the road you'll remember, wait a minute, that thing I didn't throw away in 1993 would be perfect for this application.

Landfills are another treasure trove. All kinds of metal in a landfill. Big signs says DO NOT REMOVE ANYTHING. Luckily I don't wear my glasses when at the landfill.

Saves money too.

When I lived in Mars Hill NC the operator at the landfill would get real upset because my truck often weighed more when I left than when I got there. Ended up I would have to weigh out then he would let me back in
