Somewhere here I readsomething regarding Uberti revolvers and that some early ones were not of the 'best' quality. I have the chance to buy one

The date code looks to be AD (1985?) can anyone tell me if this would be one of the better ones please?

Not yet, John. Anything made in this century will have been produced on CNC machinery. It looks VERY nice, though, and for not a lot of money by today's standards.

Vendor is not far from you - can you do a recce? Also, the offer is there to have it sent to your local RFD for you to examine, and you know what to look for in a revolver - lock-up and cylinder slop - all that stuff.

Thanks, I noticed that. (RevolBer) He isn't responding to emails at the moment, but is, as you say, forty minutes away. Soon as the restrictions ease I'll take my wife for a "nice drive in the contry dear"

Plan is to check the cylinder timing, if that seems ok anything else is easily remedied.

no it's just my nearest gun shop. they are a nice crowd who keep a good range of black powder products (and reloading kit) all at reasonable prices.
also its a similar distance from Plymouth on nice scenic roads

Nice looking revolver by the pictures shown. The price is a good one if the revolver is mechanically sound
