getting ready for another build.
.36 cal 40 to 42 inch tennessee style in flint
Half stock with wooden rail
Should i go L&R Durs Egg or Jim Chambers small Siler. I am looking for style making sure it does not look to heavy . I have no problem with the lock makers i like both of them . Need inputs and ideas

Chambers Late Ketland is a favorite of many. The small Siler is a nice lock but does not resemble originals found on rifles of the style you're considering.

If right handed rifle, what he said

While it may not influence you, and perhaps should not, you are probably aware there are some who will deduct style points from you for putting a Germanic lock on a Tennessee-styled rifle.
I suffered those sideways glances before myself....

What doesn't kill you just makes you stronger.

That said, you could always modify the Siler to be more English-looking.

The reason for asking for the lock style is to be able to look at another line of thinking some time we tend to freeze on a style and just asking some opinion from others helps out to look at things differently, i tried copying a style but it's not for me not now.
So i look for things that i like and introduce it to the form of rifle that i like. My choice whent to the Manton should be fun.

For a southern mountain style LR a Chambers Late Ketland is more suitable. The small Siler is a nice little lock but not found on originals of the style you intend to build. The fact that Chambers Late Ketland has a "lifetime warranty" which is only possible because of the excellent quality, is the clincher. On my spec LRs of whatever style, Chambers locks are always used....Fred
