I picked up a sweet little .40cal to get back in the swing of thing. It has a 1" diameter 32" Green Mountain barrel and a unknown lock. Here are some pictures.

The 40 is a fun caliber to play with. Big enough to let you know you're shooting something, and small enough not to hurt when you do.

That is a very nice looking rifle. I do like the Appalachian style guns; I own two.
Thanks, I've always liked the looks of this style rifle also, but have never owned one till now.

Very nice! I hope she shoots as good as she looks too. There are some of my friends within the smoke pole shooters who believe that the 40 caliber is the most accurate of all. I don't know if that is true or not but they seem to like it.

Thanks, I was hoping to get my .40 cal supplies in by Friday and get a load figured out to thin out a few tree-rats this weekend.

A quick range trip yesterday afternoon with fair results so far. My starting point was 35gr of ffg .389" cast lead round ball with .018" pillow thicking spit patch. I was shooting off hand at 35 yards.
