Arkansas River Muskogee
New member wanting to introduce myself. I'm Tom (Hawken50!) and I'm from Muskogee,OK. New to this site but not totally new to muzzleloading. My wife, two kids (now grown), and I use to be heavily involved in civil war reenacting back in the 90's. I've since gotten more involved in the local history of my immediate area sometimes referred to as the 3 Forks (confluence of the Arkansas, Verdigris, Grand Rivers). I've done many historical/educational presentations and living history at schools and various civic groups and club meetings. I love all kinds of historically iconic weapons but tend to gravitate towards Hawken-type rifles and Bowie knives.......hence the name Hawken50!. I want to get more into the actual shooting and hunting of these guns and currently have a .50 cal Kit Carson looking type rifle with another .50 cal custom Hawken type rifle on the way that I just purchased. I would also like to get into some of the rendevous events and meet/learn from others who know more about this black powder hobby. Anyway, my wife and I recently built a home on a bluff, on 10 acres, overlooking the Arkansas River. I've now got a nice place to do some real shooting! I'll probably be firing all sorts of newbie type questions concerning black powder shooting. Maybe some of you closer okie shooters can help me in person. As soon as I get our new home finalized, I'd like to put in some kind of a shooting range and invite some of yall over.

Used to kick around that area when I was in college in Fayetteville. Beautifull spot & lots of pretty women. You'll have to give me a couple days notice to shoot with you as I'm about a days drive away!! Post some pics of your spot. We like pics!

I forget exactly where I was. I think I was in Colorado. I actually stepped across the Arkansas river without getting my feet wet. I have also been to the confluence of the Arkansas river, and the Mississippi river.
