I've always considered myself a rifleman but as of late, I've been warming to the idea of building a nice fowler of some sort. I ran across this blog post while researching what we generally consider the "fusil de chasse" and thought the information may prove interesting for others who are interested in these guns. I have not pursued any of the original authors claims or suggestions for verification, but I'm always fascinated by how easily we let constructs of our modern world (in this case, arms manufacturing and standardization) cloud and color our perception of history.
