Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking, the 7-35x56mm of course šŸ˜‚
Seriously, I do think things would improve with a peep, but they are getting difficult to find for this rifle.

Tom A Hawk (forum member here) makes a great peep sight for your gun , next best thing to a (Leupold ) I use them too! /Ed

Good shot, how far was it?
Please report back after you have it finished! Neat idea...

Hello again I was into 1885 martini Swiss then I found an earlier Feldstutzer muzzle loader and won one at holts uk auction 1853 I gather part of the sight was missing but I copied the same sight from the later unmentionables so hereā€™s some pictures

Better post photo of later 1885 sight More or less same sights 40 years later so easy to copy, mostly filing and drilling , excellent sight picture I am 80. But good eyesight , I had to enlarge the tiny peep hole sight , just a bit , otherwise I could not see a thing ,
The 1853 is 10.4 mm. See Feltutzer Swiss rifle on utube , by our handsome Hungarian gentleman The martini is a Swiss cartridge 7.5-53 now obsolete , can only be kept as a wall hanger, unless you have an S1 police certificate for range use

While in my chair I am pondering, .45 , 24ā€ barrel I preferred percussion but no charisma
