So my brother in law found out that I am messing with black powder firearms today and he hands me his cap and ball single shot pistol. He said he hadn't shot it in xxx years and guess what. He hadn't cleaned it in xxx years. Wants me to bring it back.
I took the pistol apart to start the cleaning and first off the nipple is stuck. I sprayed it with Kroil and while I was at it I filled the barrel full and let it soak. Went back later to see if nipple would come out yet and decided to brush the bore and see how it looked. I shoved a brand new brass brush down the barrel and when I pulled the rod back out the brush didn't come out with the rod. New brush is stuck at the breach end of the barrel. Any suggestions on getting ahold of this brush and pulling it out. Oh and by the way this barrel does not have a breach plug. This barrel is 10 inches long.
I know there will be suggestions to toss it but I don't like to give up on any firearm unless there is absolutely no hope for it. And besides that he bought this pistol when he was a kid and wants to shoot it again.
