Yep, as I understand it, breech shortening appears to have been common and then you may have an extra dovetail from moving the rear sight forward.

On a well used gun it may be hard to tell which end one was shortened externally sometimes as the stock would have to be shortened either way. Evidence of barrel lugs being moved is probably the best tell.
